Turkey, Cranberry and Essential Oils

Hi Guys,

Happy thanksgiving!

Whatever you do, I hope it is one that is filled with fun, love and laughter with your friends and loved ones.

So I know we all want that perfect Thanksgiving to happen, but that doesn’t always happen quite as often as we like and sometimes we may get a little stressed out doing the prep.  Not to mention, we may end up eating waaayyyy too much and there may even end up being  a little tension with family members, siblings or in-laws.

Well guess what?

That makes your family totally NORMAL.  In any case I have put together a little toolkit for you this Thanksgiving, that you can use to make your Thanksgiving full of awesomeness.

The Mind

Stress, overwhelm and frustration start in your mind and more specifically with your thoughts.  Its really difficult to stop our thoughts as they come in subconsciously,  but we CAN choose which thoughts to focus on.  When we focus on a thought we give it energy and that energy is reflected in the way we feel.

So if you’re starting to feel overwhelmed, stressed or anxious you can decide that those thoughts are not the ones you want to be having.  So stop and ask yourself what feelings do you WANT to experience?

Then focus on thoughts that will bring you those feelings.  When we can activate feelings we want, our actions will reflect that and thus well get the results we really want.

So get into the habit right now of monitoring the way you feel.  When you can master that, you will ALWAYS be able to choose a higher quality thought.  (with practice of course).  It’s literally impossible to monitor all your thoughts but your feelings will always tell you what you’re thinking.  So use those feelings as your guide.

The Body

So you’re going to be eating and eating quite a bit…and may end up having more than you’d normally have to drink as well.

We all know that eating too much is the obvious part, but you can actually eat quite a lot and enjoy a lot of food if you choose correctly.  My advice to you is to choose smaller portions, take it easy on the snacks, especially the heavy and fatty ones.

The foods that will cause you to feel bloated or super tired are things like, Beer, Soda’s, Potato chips, Wheat and Dairy products.

Try minimize your intake of those food types and focus on things like raw nuts and veggies.

You can have fun and enjoy EVERYTHING if you plan and make wise choices.  Another tip is not to starve yourself in the morning because you’re so busy rushing around and prepping, because that means you’ll be ravenous and will start to focus on the deadly snacks later on a and most likely overeat!

You’ll also want to be prepared with some Essential Oils like DigestZen, Ginger, Peppermint and Oregano.  These help aid digestion, minimize bloating and help ease stomach related issues.

So make sure you don’t take on Thanksgiving without them!

The Soul

So nothing is going to help us more than being in a place of zen before the chaos kicks in.

So get your spirit in a place of inner peace and calm.  When we come from a place of calm, we will be so much better able to handle any things that go wrong, any potential stress and overwhelm triggers.

For me Yoga is a huge part of my inner work.  Over the past year or so, I have also been seeing an energy healer which just makes me feel amazing.  He has taught me how to do energy work on myself with my oils, which helps me find my inner peace.

For you it might be getting a massage, doing meditation, doing affirmations or whatever you do that brings about that inner calm and nourishes your soul.

So there you are.  You have your personal toolkit for the best Thanksgiving ever.  Throw in your delicious Turkey (or vegan options for me) and the Cranberry sauce and you are going to be a Thanksgiving Rockstar!

XO

Hayley
