Your inner voice….
What is it and what is its purpose?
It goes by several names. Among them are intuition, inner guidance, inner counselor, gut feeling, and sixth sense. They all describe different aspects of the same thing.
So, have you ever had a strong feeling about something, even though you didn’t have information to back it up? Like you just feel the universe is talking to you and guiding you? You feel it in your gut? Sometimes it’s a decision you’ve been struggling with and then all of a sudden you know what to do. That’s your inner voice!!
We all have the ability to understand and interpret situations in a way that goes beyond conscious reasoning. Yup, hunches and inklings also fit into this category! We may not even know why. That’s why it goes beyond our conscious mind.
Bottom line — we are ALL born with a powerful guidance system. It comes as standard issue for all of us; it’s our instincts. Some of us are aware of our inner voices and others are not, but the good news is we all can develop the skill.
But I’ve got news for you – you can’t be living on autopilot and hope to find yours. You really do need moments of stillness to find clarity. You need moments of peace to find space for it. If you’re walking around unconscious all the time… well, you just won’t be able to tap in.
Your inner guidance system is super sensitive. It’s a defense mechanism that helps you focus when you need to pay attention to what’s going on around you.
And being in tune with your inner voice can serve you in every area of your life. It can show up as encouragement to move toward opportunities or it can show up as apprehension in the presence of potential danger.
So, where does your inner voice come from? Is it an actual voice you hear?
First, the experience of an inner voice is different for all of us. For some peeps, inner voices are silent. We get the messages but we don’t actually hear anything. Others have impressions they describe as inner knowing. This can show up as the feeling you have when the phone rings and you know who’s calling.
Coincidence? Maybe not!
Then there are peeps who are clairaudient. They actually hear a voice. It can be a male or female voice. Many say the voice is gentle and comforting. This, personally, has never happened to me. For me, it’s more of a gut instinct. I just know what I need to do.
For instance, sometimes I know when I’m traveling too much. When I need to be home. When I need to cut a trip shorter. When my body needs a rest. Who I need to focus my energy on in my business. Who I need to walk away from. And I know, that because I listen to these gut feelings, I am able to navigate my life with much more ease and grace.
The point is, finding your inner voice and LISTENING to it is critical. It will help you be hyper-aware of your surroundings, situations and the intentions of other people. The more you practice, the clearer things get.
Finding your inner voice is one thing. Following it is a whole other thing. Resist the temptation to brush it off.
The answer to every question you have and very decision you need to make are inside of you and your inner voice gives you access to them. Find it and follow it. It doesn’t always need to make sense.
In relationships or business, self-trust is critical to your success.
