Purpose … we are all born with a sense of it. For some it’s clearer than for others.
Armando, the child of Cuban immigrants, grew up in poverty in the crack and cocaine neighborhoods of Miami. He learned to speak English from watching Sesame Street and his hardworking parents encouraged him in every way possible.
His mother made him listen to Tony Robbins in the car and at the age of five, his dad taught him to recite poetry. Armando also fell in love with music when he was 13 and began making a name for himself as a street rapper.
One day, everything came together for him. He discovered his purpose and today Armando “Pitbull” Perez impacts the world with his music. He is also making a difference in the lives of others as a philanthropist.
What is our purpose? It’s our reason for being here on this planet at this time in history. It’s our “why.”
Most of us are not born aware of our purpose. Oh, it’s not like the universe doesn’t drop hints. Sometimes we’re just distracted by our wild and cray cray lives and not always paying close attention, so we miss the gentle nudges.
And then one day, out of nowhere, just like it happened for Pitbull, whack! We get smacked in the face and some profound life experience says, this is WHY you are here!
That’s how it happens. Any doubt is washed away and suddenly we know WHO we are.
I began to discover my own purpose as I moved past my fears to speak publicly and present webinars. I shared my insights in my writing and on private coaching calls, and when people reacted by telling me how their lives were changing, I realized I was on track. I learned what I had to share had value.
When I’m at the top of my game and really focused on how I can help someone, it works. I see people getting inspired – really inspired. My purpose is helping other people realize they have permission to dream, and that their dreams can come true. Their work and personal life can be aligned and I can help them get there.
What is your purpose? Do you know?
Because if you truly want to know what your purpose is, you WILL find it. Seriously, you can’t escape it! And once you discover your purpose, get ready for major changes. You will see the world in a new way. And you know what? You’ll see people differently.
A laser-sharp awareness will direct your life with intention. Knowing why you’re here will help you make choices that will help you fulfill your purpose, but you have to take action.
What if you’ve been searching but don’t know why you’re here?
Discovering your purpose is not necessarily easy. No one can tell you what it is. You’re on your own with this one, kiddo.
Your first step is to get to know yourself.
Who are you?
What kinds of things grab your attention?
What are you passionate about and are there changes you would make it you could?
Ask yourself this: “If I were independently wealthy and my needs were fulfilled, how would I invest my time?” Keep asking and the answers will come. Life will present opportunities.
Your purpose is uniquely yours. Once you discover it, you don’t need permission to fulfill it. Your purpose will evolve as you grow. Sometimes it’s a lifelong process, so be patient. The journey can be as exciting as the destination!
XO,
Hayley
