3 KEYS to Getting Unstuck

A few months after I started my essential oils business, my hairdresser, who is wonderful and fabulous and owns her salon (let’s call her Carrie), decided to join me. She wanted to introduce her clients and following to essential oils.

Seemed like a no brainer. She had people rolling through her doors daily. All were interested in taking a more proactive approach to their self-care and health.

So here I am, four-and-a-half years later with my original interest/hobby that turned into an incredible business/lifestyle, and guess where Carrie is? She still hasn’t started!

And she was the one with the established business. She had already proven herself to be successful. Who knew the value of multiple streams of income and residual income?

WHY has Carrie been procrastinating?

She is charismatic and likable and already has a loyal following. People choose to come to HER. Compared to where others are when they start out, Carrie couldn’t be closer to the sweet spot.

Carrie is in front of an audience DAILY and feels paralyzed.

Is she afraid to put forth an effort only to be rejected? Does she not know how or where to begin? Both are good questions. The answers?

My guess is Carrie is clearly stuck.

What about you? Do you feel stuck? Maybe you’ve been doing something for so long you don’t know any other way. It might just be that you can’t imagine anything else, so you settle. Your life becomes comfortable because it’s familiar. So what do you do?

You acknowledge where you are now and then begin with these 3 keys to helping you get unstuck.

Consciously Choose Change

You are always one decision away from change. Even if you don’t know how to manage it, begin by consciously choosing change.

If you want to leave your day job and start a business, decide to do it. Commit to it. Promise yourself to do everything in your power to have it. Don’t stop until you get what you want.

Take The First Step

Once you’re clear that you want to get unstuck, think of one single step you can take in a new direction. Notice I didn’t say LEAP. It’s easier to get unstuck if you shimmy and wiggle a bit first.

Reward Your Successes

Every time you lessen the hold on your life by taking action or even having a positive thought, you achieve success. Acknowledge and reward yourself.

Keep going no matter what. If you backslide, just dig in again. If you fall, pick yourself back up. Before you know it you’ll be moving forward with long, silky strides.

Each success builds on the next. The more you continue to associate positive feelings with your steps, the less stuck you’ll feel. And the more fluid your movement, the less likely you are to get stuck again.
