How to achieve any goal in 90 days

Want to hear something crazy?

March is in just three months.

.
I know, right?

So here’s what I’d like to propose…

We use the next three months to set ourselves up for a stronger March.

We create a 90-day “WIN” Plan.

This is setting a goal – a “win” – you can achieve in the next 90 days… whatever that looks like for you.

Here are some of the common ones I hear in my Habit Hackers community. See if you can relate to any of these 90-day goals:

  • “To lose the stress-eating pounds I’ve picked up this year (even 5 would be great!)”
  • “To make an improvement in my biz… I’m looking to grow.”
  • “To balance my life better, so I can finish everything on my to-do list, spend quality time with my family, and have space for myself!”

This is all doable with the 90-day WIN Plan.

The key is to make this 90-day goal big enough that you feel like you’re stretching yourself, but doable enough that you won’t set yourself up for disappointment.

Like, don’t commit to losing 50 pounds in 3 months. That’s not a realistic goal, no matter how hard you try. You’re setting yourself up for failure and extreme measures, which never work out in the long term.

That’s why we break this goal-setting plan into three parts.

3 Steps to the 90-Day WIN Plan

Step 1: Get clear on your vision (AKA: Choose your goal wisely.)

Step 1 is where you consider what your goal is and whether it’s actually doable – with a stretch – in the next three months.

This means you need to get really clear on WHY you want this goal.

Will it set you up for long-term success in your biz?

Will it help you feel better in your body, so you can be a better version of your already-amazing self?

Will it allow you to feel more connection, or freedom, or abundance in your life?

This 90-day goal should be IMPORTANT to you. Because, lemme tell ya… your WHY is much more important than your WHAT.

Here are two important questions to ask yourself when thinking about goals:
  • What are three things I’d like to accomplish in the next 90 days?
  • Which one of these feels the best to me?

This second question is about self-inquiry. Meaning going into your BODY for the answer.

Find a place to get quiet, get still, and tune into your body as you contemplate the goals you are thinking about for your 90-day WIN Plan.

Use your BRAIN to choose three goals you would like to put at the top of your 90-day Win Plan list, then use your BODY to intuitively choose one, by paying attention to your body’s cues and responses as you envision working on the goals.

Next, I recommend using some visualization to really ground it into reality. Ask yourself: What would it look like if I achieved this 90-day goal? Use your imagination to picture the scene.

Then, What would it FEEL like to achieve this goal? Truly imagine yourself in this place three months from now having completed this goal.

What does it look like… and how do you feel?

Because when you put yourself into that future state – meaning you use both body AND mind as a driver in working toward this goal – you become unstoppable.

Step 2: Talk it out

.
When I say “talk it out,” I mean, let it alllll out.

Talk to yourself, to your fam, to your coworkers, your bestie… your support system.

This is where you start working out what you need in order to get to your goal by March. Think about things like:

  • Do you need to pivot things around in your schedule?
  • If so, how can you enlist help to do this?
  • Are there any challenges or roadblocks you may not have considered in this plan?

Talking it out with someone else (and with yourself) will help bring these answers to light. And, if you’re not sure how to go from where you are now to your vision of March 2021, talking it out helps that get sorted too.

Have you ever called or texted someone to ask a question and then you answer your own question the second you put it out there? It’s kind of embarrassing how often that happens to me, LOL.

The way I like to think about Step 2 is… I’m giving the goal I want to achieve space by talking it out. Space to unwind, evolve, breathe, flourish, and actually come to life.

You probably have a strong network of people who care about you and are willing to help support you in achieving your goal. Community is rocket fuel for goals.

But if you don’t have a network like this at your fingertips (or you don’t feel “your people” will understand what you’re trying to accomplish), you can find the right community online.

There are oodles of groups out there… including mine! (More on Habit Hackers in a sec…)

Step 2 is all about putting it out into the universe for it to take shape… to form… to breathe.

Step 3: Make an action plan.

Here’s where the rubber meets the road: the planning stage.

So you get out your notebook, your journal, your planner, whatever you use to put down to-dos or map out what you need to do for projects… and start planning!

Let’s say your goal is to lose 5 pounds by March.

After meeting with your family or anyone else who would be impacted by this goal, and working out those kinks…

What are the actions you can take to achieve your goal in the next 90 days?

Usually the place to start is nutrition and movement.

So, you’d probably decide to adjust your schedule to include time to move your body. (Which, btw, not only helps you burn off excess weight better, but it actually helps you feel better all over!).

In addition to movement, you’ll probably also look at what you’re putting into your body to ensure it’s the right fuel to get you to your goal.

Or, if your goal is to grow your biz by 10% in the next 90 days, you’d consider the work you did in Step 1, plus what you’ve learned from your brainstorming sessions in Step 2, and create an action plan. Maybe you’d decide to write and share blogs more regularly, or network in a new way, or get word of your business out online… whatever you think will help you move the needle.

If you’re completely stuck on what to do with your biz, I recommend checking out my podcast and biz-related articles.

Let’s look at this from a practical perspective: goal mapping.

If you want to lose 5 pounds, you can break your 3-month timeframe into 1-month chunks plus actions that go along with it, like:

90-day WIN Plan Goal: Lose 5 pounds
  • Month 1: 2 Pounds
  • Month 2: 2 Pounds
  • Month 3: 1 Pound

Then you break this down into weekly segments with specifics and pepper in new ideas as you come across approaches to try. All your ideas and commitments… jot them alllll down. And put them into your calendar, so it’s there in black and white.

Here’s an example:

Month 1: January
  • Week 1:
    • Mon, Wed, Fri = 11am yoga, walk dog 30min, veggie dinner, 80oz water
    • Tues, Thurs = walk dog 45min, protein smoothie breakfast, 80oz water
    • Sat = morning hike with fam (6 miles), Mediterranean diet day, green tea instead of coffee
    • Sun = walk dog 30min, vegan lunch, add 2 new greens to family dinner night

For your biz, you can apply the same methodology.

Let’s say growing your business 10% means you need an extra $700 in the first quarter. You would use the three month calendar to plot out what tactics go where, based upon how long you think it will take to show results.

So if your goal is to make an extra $700, you may have a two-pronged approach of getting more revenue from your existing customer base and acquiring new leads into your pipeline.

Your calendar may look a little different. Something like this:

90-day WIN Plan Goal: Additional $700 revenue (10% growth)
Month 1: January ($100 increase)
  • Grow database: new freebie, discount for joining database
  • Nurture database: weekly newsletter, share top products for 2021 (w/ links), prep for Feb promo (website, ads, blog article)

Month 2: February ($250 increase)
  • Grow database: Facebook ads for Valentine’s Day promo
  • Existing database: Launch paid ads, send promo emails, run reporting, plan Instagram Live giveaways for March

Month 3: March ($350 increase)
  • Grow database: Launch new Instagram ads, put new video on website, research being a podcast guest
  • Existing database: Recipes for spring + products to buy with discount code, run Instagram Live giveaways, track results

Again, you’d break this down into weekly tactics and use anything you’ve learned over time to your goal-mapping process.

As you work on your 90-day WIN Plan, make sure to document results (in real time). This will help you remember what you did and what happened when you tried. Because if you’re like me, you probably won’t remember it after a few days! 😂

Now, if you are IN ON this 90-day WIN Plan with me… but are feeling like:

😰“Yeah sounds great, Hayley, but I am just too dang busy to actually do this on my own.”

😟 “Sounds awesome, Hayley, but I don’t have the right support for it to actually happen.”

😬 “I want to do it but I want accountability help, to check in with me and make sure I’m on the right track.”

Well, then the Habit Hackers community group I mentioned earlier is ideal for you.

This is my private membership community of women who are looking to learn healthy life, productivity, and wellness hacks to be the best version of themselves, so they can…

  • Show up for their families better (friends, too!).
  • Experience greater abundance in their lives and their biz.
  • Feel like they’re making actual progress as they make new choices and decisions in their lives.

But here’s the deal… the 2020 rate of $24.95 ends tomorrow… on Christmas Eve! After that, it goes up. So if you’re even a little bit curious, I recommend checking it out ASAP.

If now’s not the right time, that’s cool, I’ll probably open it again sometime in 2021 (but not at this low rate).

So if you’re ready to join me in creating a 90-day WIN Plan (so we can get ourselves to March 2021 in a significantly better place than it was this year), let’s do this!

Be sure to join Habit Hackers by 8pm MT tomorrow to lock in the 2020 rate now.

Before I wrap up this article, I want to wish you the most happy of holiday seasons…

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa… whatever you celebrate.

I hope it’s wonderful and joyful. Sending you SO MUCH love today and always. Have a beautiful holiday and I’ll see ya online. 🦌🦌🦌🛷🎅
