I’d like to offer you an intention: that you create a magical year in 2021.
I’m talkin’ Hermoine Granger meets Mary Poppins meets Gandalf riding a unicorn level of magic, LOL.
One of my fav things to do in January is to get super super clear on my vision for the year.
This process helps guide my entire year, and includes everything in my life.
This vision exercise is the secret to creating a year that’s magical AF.
How to Create Your Vision for 2021.
Step 1: Make a Vision List
Get yourself a piece of paper, and write down the big areas of your life. Here’s a starter list for ya:
Relationships
Business / Career
Spirituality
Health
Fun
Money / Finances
Friends
Family
Personal Growth
Home Life
You can add other areas if you’d like to get more specific, too! I’ve seen people add categories like “Children” or “Social Impact.” Choose areas that are important to you if they’re not on this list.
Step 2: Create a Vision for Each Category
Create a vision – a desire – for each of the categories on your vision list.
Spend time here with this. Get crystal clear on what you’d like the end of 2021 to look like for you in each area.
Use the power of your imagination – and your mind-body connection – to see it, feel it, as if it were really happening right now.
This combo is super powerful in manifesting intentions.
Because lemme tell ya, without a clear vision – without intention – how will your life ever change? How will that magic come through?
Step 3: Be Like Harry Potter
Harry Potter knows magic.
Of course, he was born with raw magical powers, but I think we are too (in different ways, obviously).
For Harry to truly become powerful, he had to learn how to harness that inner magic and direct it for it to be useful and meaningful.
His intention was to become a great wizard. He took steps to learn as much as he could and make it happen.
What if Harry hadn’t decided to go to Hogwarts? He’d probably still be living in the cupboard under the stairs, eating Cheetos, and drinking Red Bull. But no. He made a choice to own his magic and do something great with it.
Well, my friends, the same is true for us.
While we may not have a Hogwarts to go to and learn how to cultivate those skills, we have our life experiences.
(Although, there is something kinda close to Hogwarts for us Muggles at the end of today’s article, so stick with me!)
We’ve been on this planet long enough to know a little bit about what we want to get out of our lives, right? Use the vision exercise to get clear and document what magic you’d like to see happen by the end of 2021.
The trick is to have this list be full of positive, inspirational visions for yourself. #goodvibesonly #magicalAF
What to do if you’re stuck in creating your vision.
Sometimes you simply can’t decide what your version of a magical year looks like or you’re stuck getting clear on the changes you’d like to make.
Do not let this stop you from doing the exercise!
On a separate piece of paper, write down what you don’t want to experience or have happen.
Sometimes it takes getting clear on what you don’t want to make room for the insight of what you do want to come through.
Think of it like cleaning off a super dusty mirror. You have to remove the old to see what’s underneath.
So get your scrap paper and add those same life categories from Step 1.
Then dig into what you don’t want.
Let’s do an example for the category of Relationships.
Maybe it looks like:
I don’t want to feel like I can’t be myself.
I don’t want to feel insecure or awkward anymore.
I don’t want to feel crappy when I’m around my partner.
I don’t want to be around people who don’t appreciate me.
Whatever it is, write it down. This is just for you, so you can be honest and real. (You won’t be sharing this with anyone if you don’t want to.) Be sure to think about ALL of your relationships. Not just romantic ones.
Since my “magic vision” for 2021 is to do more with less effort, my “I don’t want” list would look like:
I don’t wanna work 10+ hours a day anymore.
I don’t wanna waste time on shiz that isn’t working (goodbye, inefficiency!).
I don’t want to be around energy vampires anymore (you know… the kind of people who suck the energy out of you and leave you feeling exhausted? That shiz belongs in Twilight, not Harry Potter, thank you very much).
Once you have your negative list, go back to your original sheet and start writing down the opposite of these things. See how that feels as part of your vision. You may have that gut reaction of “Bingo! That’s it!” or maybe you’ll find that you’ve actually created some space for a nuanced version of that desire can come through now.
This is the dusting off process.
You don’t want to be manifesting negative things. That’s why the final vision list should be positive.
Here’s what the positive list for Relationships might look like:
I want to be able to be myself in all of my relationships. I desire FREEDOM and TRUST.
I want to feel SAFE and SECURE in my relationship. I desire OPEN COMMUNICATION and MUTUAL RESPECT.
I want to feel GOOD with my partner. I desire LOVE and FULFILLMENT.
I want to work with people who value my efforts, are collaborative, and actually give a crap. I desire CREATIVITY and GROWTH.
Spend some time in this exercise continuing to pull the threads of these desires and really unravel them.
Now is not the time to be selfless, my friend. There’s no prize for being a martyr here, so keep it real.
You can ask yourself questions like “Why do I want this?” and “What else is connected to this?” as you go along.
Trust me when I tell ya, what you thought of as a simple desire is actually jam-packed with values, beliefs, and deep-seeded desires for yourself and your life.
It. Gets. Cray up in there!
When you unspool your desires and go deep into why you want what you want, it’ll help you take your vision and make it strong. It’ll help you direct it into your future. And it’ll guide you to impact – which is the most magical thing of all, if ya ask me. Being able to help organizations and causes that are close to your heart is super magical AF, so be sure to include it in your “vision list”.
Step 4: Use Your Imagination.
This is my fav step of this process.
It involves putting yourself into a scene where you’ve already accomplished and manifested that intention.
You see it, feel it, experience it as if it had already happened.
Using the power of your imagination.
Creative ways to visualize your vision:
Bring it into your meditation practice.
While lying in bed before going to sleep.
Create a vision board.
Manifestation journaling.
There is something very powerful about seeing things, writing about things, documenting things… as if they have already happened. It actually rewires your brain!
So do this with all the different categories you’ve outlined on your list.
Step 5: Get intentional with Your Vision. (AKA: Hogwarts for Muggles)
This process is a great way to hack your whole life: by getting intentional with your life and your biz.
Now, I totally get this process can feel overwhelming. It helps to be guided through the process, step-by-step.
Trust me – I know this, because I go through this process every year and sometimes it’s STILL a challenge. Which is why I find worksheets and exercises to be super helpful. (Paired with some vegan cookie dough when I’m really strugglin’!!) LOL
The entire first module is all about getting intentional with your life and your biz, creating that clear, focused vision, and cultivating the right mindset for change. So you can create your magical year!
I mean, I like to think it’s KINDA like Hogwarts...
(If Hogwarts were on-demand and included things like automating processes without a magic wand. But I guess we have cell phones, which is pretty darn close these days, LOL.)
So consider this your invitation to Hogwarts.
The course has sessions covering hacks for:
Nutrition
Productivity
Time-management
Health, and more!
All those categories you outlined in your vision plan? This course will help you get your shiz in order… so you can start manifesting those intentions. Because you’ll be working on YOU! And becoming the best version of yourself is definitely part of the plan in creating your magical year.
(Yep, I’m *that girl* who leaves her Christmas tree up until the end of January, so it’s still the holidays to me.)
Your Whole You is the first item on the gift list, and you can still get a discount if you sign up by January 13.
So before I go and watch Harry Potter for the 197th time (and maybe break out that vegan cookie dough), I’d like to run through the 5 steps again really quick:
Step 1: Make a vision list.
Step 2: Create a vision for each category.
Step 3: Be like Harry Potter.
Step 4: Use your imagination.
Step 5: Get intentional with your vision.
I’d love for you to join me in setting the intention of making 2021 magical AF.
I’ll see ya online.
