In the last couple of years “manifesting” has become a super hot topic?
It’s literally all over social media and google searches skyrocketed about it (I mean, what else were you going to do during peak quarantine times? LOL)
If this practice—or even just the terminology—is new to you, don’t worry.
Here’s the Cliff Notes recap.
Manifesting is the practice of thinking aspirational thoughts with the purpose of making them real.
It’s about identifying your desires, putting them out into the world with confidence, and taking action on it.
You’ve heard of the law of attraction, right? Or maybe you read The Secret. That little book sold 30 million friggin’ copies…
They’re all related.
What it really comes down to is creating a clear vision for what you want. If you’re not a “woo woo” person, it’s usually easier to think about it in those terms.
How to Manifest Your Desires
Step 1: Get clear about your desires.
When you think about your life, your work, and your future, there are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What does that look like?
- How do you want to feel?
- What impact would you like to make?
- Why is this important to you?
- What would you have then that you don’t have now?
Those are just a few to start with. You’ll probably find out pretty quickly that you can go down the rabbit hole of self-reflection, which isn’t bad. In fact, doing this kind of work is actually good for you, IMO.
It helps you define your values. Find your purpose. And go after your passions.
Spend a little time journaling or documenting these things before you actually start the manifestation process.
Some people really like contemplating these questions during meditation. Or first thing in the morning before they roll out of bed.
One pro tip here: don’t rush this step.
You may totally be tempted to get right to the “how” part of manifesting and skim right past the “what” and “why” stage that comes first.
But trust me when I tell ya, if you skip ahead, you’ll probably wind up disappointed with the results.
Step 2: Pick your manifestation method.
The key part here is to speak your manifestation out loud.
I mean you don’t have to say it out loud verbally (but I find that does help). What I mean is, it needs to get out of your head and out into the world.
Here’s a quick list of ideas:
- A vision board.
- Affirmations.
- “Scripting” - writing an affirmation over and over.
- Manifestation journaling.
- Saying it aloud.
Choose which one works best for you. And be confident about your desires.
Step 3: Surrender.
Here’s what I absolutely know about this whole manifestation thing.
You need to ALIGN with the universe—not try to arm wrestle it for control.
Some people become too attached to a specific outcome.
I mean, it’s pretty unlikely Bradley Cooper is going to randomly show up at your doorstep asking you to marry him…
...but maybe you could manifest a nice guy with Bradley-like qualities you want in a partner.
Trust that the Universe (and your heart) will guide you to the right choices and outcomes.
Step 4: Show up and do the work.
Yes, my friend, you do have to put in some work.
It’s not enough to wish for more abundance in your life.
You gotta put in some effort.
Like, don’t stare at your driveway trying to “manifest” a new Tesla…
Focus instead on making your business more effective, more efficient, and more profitable.
So here’s the million dollar question… does manifestation actually work?
I like to say: it works if you work it.
If you’re truly focused on a desire, goal, or dream you have and you put in the legwork to make it be so…
... you’re going to get a heck of a lot closer to reaching it than just going about your day to day or keeping that desire hidden away for yourself.
Instead, center yourself. Focus thoughts and feelings on aspirational goals.
And put in the work. AKA: Show the eff up each and every day to give the Universe the support it needs to deliver what you’re looking for.
It’s about creating a habit for yourself.
I love to think of manifestation as a magical blend of mindset, having wild dreams, and taking persistent action.
When you become clear on what you want, you’ll actually be HAPPY to get up and get at it every day. Especially when you trust that the universe has your back, as Gabby Bernstein says.
I feel like manifestation seems harder than it is. If you look at it through the lens of simply creating a habit, it actually becomes much easier.
There’s an entire section in there with practical hacks on how to change your vibe, which is the root of effective manifestation.
When your creative and spiritual energies are aligned with positive outcomes that benefit everyone… you’re going to grow, prosper, and bring joy to yourself and others.
And that looks so good on you. ;)
I’ll see ya online.
XO,
Hayley
