Hey, my friends! I’m Hayley Hobson and I’m so glad you’re here! Welcome to the 10/10 Podcast where I help ambitious women, like you, look + feel younger, so you can achieve a 10/10 lifestyle (and unlock financial freedom).
Lemme ask you this:
Do you create chaos in your life?
As in, complicate things more than you have to?
One of the biggest chaos-makers is saying “yes” to too many things…
Or multi-tasking to get things done.
Literally the worst thing ever! LOL
When you do this, you actually spread yourself too thin.
And you can’t give your attention to AN-Y-THING.
Which then shows up in your energy and attitude.
And how you behave.
And I’d say, a good 90% of us do this on the regular.
I mean, how often do you do this to yourself?!
I’ll give you an example that just happened to me in a minute.
And I bet you can relate.
But it made me think about how much stress and tension we create for ourselves.
In our minds, we like to tell stories that it’s outside circumstances creating the chaos…
But the real deal facts are: we do it to ourselves!
By lying to ourselves and saying we’re being more productive by doing multiple things at once.
Or saying yes to one more thing.
Or half-assing certain things to hit a deadline. Or just complete.
When you live your life this way, you invariably end up becoming disconnected from others and what’s really going on around you.
And worst of all, you become disconnected from yourself.
And then one day, you look up and you’re like OMG why do I feel like shit?
Why can’t I sleep more than 5 hours a night?
Why does my body hurt so much?
Why am I getting sick again?
All.the.things.
I believe 100% is possible, 100% of the time…
WHEN you’re 100% grounded in what you want to create.
For example, let’s say you’re 100% grounded in the vision that you want more time, financial, and creative freedom…
And maybe you’ve recognized that you’re a multi-passionate person.
And that you wanna make some MONEY with those passions. Why not right? LOL
Well then, first of all, picking up a copy of my guide, Start Your Own Side Hustle, is your perfect next step.
It’s normally $97, but I’ve made it FREE for all of you listening—for a limited time.
If you’ve felt a little overwhelmed by where to start… or maybe WHAT kind of side hustle is right for you…
This guide’s gonna help you get out of the chaos and get laser focused on what you wanna create.
So you can...
Stop feeling so scattered – and start moving in the right direction.
So speaking of scattered…
It’s the summer, which means it’s typically a travel-heavy season for me.
And recently, I was prepping to go on a trip.
And you know me… I’m big into time blocking.
So I totally thought I’d given myself enough time to do everything before leaving.
You know, get in my 7 am workout class.
Be home before 8 am.
And still have about 3 hours until we were due to be at the airport.
All good, right?
I had packed my suitcase already – I typically do it a few days before (yes, I’m *THAT* girl, LOL).
PS – I get into debates about packing with my friends all the time.
In fact, my friend sent me a meme that said, people who unpack the day they get back from a trip are serial killers. LOL
Guess she better watch out. LOL
ANYWAY…
Suitcase was ready.
And really, the only things left to toss in were my toiletries and make-up bag.
I was just going to do that PLUS the last minute home things of taking out the trash…
Making sure the windows and doors were locked… wiping down the house, etc etc.
But then I got home to find out my daughter, Madeline, who promised to be ready by the time I got back, hadn’t even packed her suitcase yet.
And I still got to shower and jump into my leadership coaching call.
So yeah, the sitch was NOT ideal!
And because I felt a bit more rushed than I wanted…
And my time wasn’t aligning with everything left to do…
I made the terrible decision to multi-task.
I stayed on the call, but turned off my camera so I could finish those last-minute details.
Hustle everyone along…
And can you guess what happened?
Yep, my energy and attention went haywire.
There was a sensitive subject being brought up on the call and because I wasn’t grounded, I bled that energy onto everyone else.
AKA: created my own chaos.
And, because energy is contagious, suddenly like 5-6 other people picked up that energy and it just DERAILED the call.
In retrospect, I should have reviewed my calendar to make sure I had time blocked appropriately to cover everything left on the list.
Had I done that, I’d have been sitting down at my desk for the call – grounded and present.
Able to really take in the information and process it.
Rather than half-listening (yep, that’s honestly what I was doing) and then reacting.
And ya know what?
That story I told myself about needing to multi-task in order to get to the airport in time ended up not being true.
‘Cause after the call, I still had 45 minutes to kill before heading to the airport!
OOF.
Point being…
I wasn’t showing up 100% grounded in what I wanted to create.
And not only did I generate my own chaotic energy, I spread it to everyone on that coaching call.
I didn’t show up like I could have.
And people noticed – and called me out (privately, of course).
And ya know what?
They were right!
So I share this to let you know that I’m not perfect… I have moments where I mess up – and I appreciate when people call me on it…
Give me feedback…
And B) to remind you about this, too.
And ask you to get real honest about where you fall into this trap.
Where do you create your own chaos?
- Where do you not show up 100% in your vision, in your intention, and in what you want to create?
- Do you even HAVE a vision?
- What does it look like?
- And how are you showing up to turn that vision into your reality?
