Tell me somethin’… do you ever get triggered?
If you're not sure what it looks like to be triggered, first of all, goodonya for being a superhuman. LOL
But what ya could do is watch the TV show Suits – it’s having a moment right now.
Louis from Suits is legit a human-shaped trigger, LOL.
Getting triggered looks like this…
Someone says something…
Or makes a particular face…
Or reacts a certain way to you…
Or maybe DOES something…
And you just go off.
You react INSTANTLY – literally without a single conscious thought about it.
It’s just like BOOM – reaction.
And if you’re not in the moment – or even aware of it happening…
Your day can totally take a complete left turn…
And you’re stuck in a downward path of negative emotions.
Maybe you’ve destroyed a relationship along the way…
Well, my friend… if you’re sitting there nodding your head…
You're not the only one.
It happens allllll the freaking time.
So here’s my hot take on this.
Triggers are actually a blessing!
They shine a bright light on areas we need to work on.
For someone who loves growth + development as much as me…
That’s a HUGE HELP.
I’ve spent a ton of time the past several years uncovering my triggers…
The true root causes…
And practicing how to notice them in the moment.
And THEN, choosing to shift my mindset and approach...
To overcome them.
And not let them be in charge of my life anymore.
It’s a real game changer that most people just don’t bother to focus on.
They say, “Meh, this is just how it is.”
When it’s actually something you CAN change!
Once you know how.
Addressing those head on is gonna make a massive positive impact in how you show up in your biz…
Your relationships… your fam…
And the results you see.

What does it make you feel?

With complete honesty.

So, a minute ago I said that triggers can be a blessing.
Let’s dig into that.
When someone is triggered…
Whether that’s you or someone you know…
It means they're having a strong, uncomfortable emotional reaction to a stimulus that wouldn't ordinarily cause that response.
And most of the time, it has nothing to do with what happened. Instead…
It has to do with an unresolved, underlying issue.
So think about this for a second…
When you get triggered, how do you feel?
For some people, it may show up as panic, overwhelm, crying, acting out…
Or red hot rage.
(AKA: Louis from Suits, LOL)
For others, they withdraw.
Or become defensive.
Everyone reacts differently.
And the thing to know is…
This response is a message from your subconscious telling you that you have an area to work on…
There is something underneath your trigger.
It’s like your body is waving a huge flag at you.
And what most of us do is point the finger away from ourselves.
“YOU triggered ME.”
When the truth is… that trigger is coming from YOU.
9 times out of 10, the person on the receiving end of your trigger response has no idea they’re involved in generating that snap reaction.
Most of the time they’re completely bewildered by it!
So, when you find yourself triggered…
Instead of blaming the person in front of you who quote unquote “made you feel that way…”
‘Cause newsflash, they didn’t make you feel anything.
YOU are in control of your emotions.
But when you find yourself triggered, I want you to ask yourself…
“What am I getting triggered about? Why am I reacting like this?”
Really take the time to think about it.
Meditate on it.
Write it out.
Talk to someone about it.
And then, say thank you.
Embrace your trigger…
Instead of pointing the finger, go to a place of inner self-discovery.
And even though it’s uncomfortable AF, these breakdowns can lead to major breakthroughs.
I’ve experienced it myself.
And what I can tell ya from firsthand experience is…
Once I’ve processed these triggers, I feel sooooo much better – and lighter…
And at peace.
Because I’ve been able to release a belief and emotion stuck in my body.
So it helps me feel centered again.
You may get triggered often – or maybe just once once in a while.
The trick is to become mindful and aware of these triggers as they appear.
Ask yourself what’s the REAL root cause of that trigger…
And then begin to unwind that.
Work through it.
And I promise you it WILL get better…
Maybe even disappear entirely.
And I totally get that this can be super challenging to do on your own.
If not impossible, to be honest.
And that’s why I’m offering to help ya with it.
